The top one is actually a little jointer plane that I use to
make perfect edges on little boards for tool cases. I find that
it works for me better than a Stanley block plane which is much
The essential parts of the plane are in the brass channel
section and the wooden sole extension is the bottom of the
mahogany handle. I also use it for rapidly cutting chamfers.
After I finished that plane and used it to cut chamfers, I
decided I needed a stop chamfer or chisel plane as an
accompanying tool so I made a companion for it. I cast the lever
cap screw and threaded it.
