The iron is four times thicker than on a Record shoulder plane
and the thick steel sole was expertly silver soldered to the
gunmetal body. There is lots of steel remaining in the cutter.
It was already sharp but I honed the cutting edge to scary
sharp, ending with diamond paste.
After I adjusted it, I immediately reached for some mahogany,
poplar, and walnut to build a case for it to keep it in its
prime condition for the next owner.
