... to hide in the shop the last couple of days and make a box
for my Mathieson infill smooth plane.
I take this plane to teaching sessions and now it doesn't have
to be wrapped up for transport. The wood I selected for this box
is sapele which is tough as peckerwood lips with lots of cross
grain so I used scrapers for most of the smoothing. The
medallion in the end is pewter with some of its silver plate
I have had that old Mathieson plane for years after buying it
for a song back in the good old days. It has a repair on its bun
and the wood has been painted black by some former owner.
