Today I share a bitstock tool from
my collection. Once affixed in a brace the user has a choice of
six tools that can be deployed forward and used.
This photo shows the device with all tools in
locked back in the storage position.
Choices are a center bit, a quill
bit, a turnscrew bit, a square reamer, a countersink bit, and a
spoon bit. A patent is associated with this cluster of bitstock
tools. It was issued to Alexander and John Clarke on March 18,
1890 and assigned Patent Number 423,513.
This device works well but
apparently did not prosper on the market. I have seen only three
of them in over 50 years.
