Some times it was faster to trim with a chisel. I then
cleaned up with the shoulder plane.
Trimming the length of the tenon.
Scrapeing the rails, nice shavings, but not the easiest wood to scrape.
Breaking the edge with 120 grit sandpaper.
All fitted together with nice tight joints. Gluing and clamping - 4 more to go.
The whole set.
I have been a woodworking hobbyist for 43 years, building
up my shop from a one car garage to an 800-square foot work center with 200 sq.
ft. dedicated to “unplugged”-hand tools only.
Projects have ranged from Adirondack Chairs with side tables, craft work
centers, decorative side tables and wood shop tool cases and cabinets as well as
toy boxes for my grandsons and jewelry boxes and a hope chest for my daughter.
My father in law has benefitted from the Slider Rocker Bench Chair and a Hand
tooled Harley Davidson Crest birthday was a gift for my brother in law. There
are benches in the garden, and furniture in the house.
My awesome wife has been supportive of my endeavors and has been patient with my
‘play time’. I have spent time teaching the grandsons how to use tools and we
have completed many beginner projects over the past few years, building quality
time together, in between fishing and computer programming.
