Someone asked me why I am
fascinated by English boxwood.
I remembered this prototype hinge I
made for the day when I build a fancy non-tool related project.
The truth is, as Sarah
and Bill Carter say, it is
just simply the King of Woods.
English boxwood is strong, very strong. It is
not fragile or subject to chipping.
Cut one way it can be virgin white, cut
another it can be beautifully figured.
Try drilling through that tiny section in any
other wood, pinning it
and then not having it split!
An amazing wood...
